On February 13, Espacio Arte 21 inaugurated The Apocalypse Files, a solo exhibition by Johnfjunior, the alter ego of Spanish artist Juan Fuster. The exhibition presents a series of twelve large-scale ink drawings on paper that explore speculative post-human scenarios through a dystopian and fictional lens.

Executed in Chinese ink and black watercolor, the works reveal a universe in transformation, where remnants of Western civilization coexist with strange hybrid beings and ambiguous symbolic forms. Through meticulous draftsmanship and a rich range of textures, Johnfjunior constructs psychologically charged images that evoke isolation, mutation, and survival in a world beyond human centrality.

Each drawing operates as a fragment of a larger fictional archive, suggesting narratives that remain open and unresolved. The monochromatic compositions intensify the dramatic atmosphere, reinforcing drawing as both a material and conceptual medium capable of conveying complex emotional and philosophical tensions.

The exhibition is part of Johnfjunior’s ongoing project The Apocalypse Files, which also includes an artist book developed in collaboration with eight writers, expanding the visual universe into literary form.

With this exhibition, Espacio Arte 21 presents a body of work that highlights drawing as a direct and powerful contemporary language, while consolidating Johnfjunior’s practice as a distinctive voice exploring fiction, identity, and cultural transformation in the present.
