I started AHAHA! in London in 2024 and, after spending two years hidden away in folders, I finally completed it in Spain.

This work is built from layers of meaning stacked upon one another, like a mystery that slowly reveals a story without ever fully explaining itself. At first glance, we see a figure dressed in Islamic clothing speaking to a young girl accompanied by her dog. Together, they stand upon hands emerging from a well, all within a park at night.

Elsewhere, a mysterious figure walks through the scene, while inverted buildings rise from the composition, challenging our sense of reality and direction. At the very base of the image, a pair of moving legs supports the entire structure, carrying the weight of the visual narrative above.

I conceived the painting as a kind of visual riddle. Each symbol points toward another, creating connections that are not immediately visible. Rather than offering answers, the work invites questions. It encourages the viewer to wander through its imagery, searching for relationships, meanings, and stories hidden beneath the surface.

For me, AHAHA! is about the tension between what is seen and what remains concealed, a space where fragments of narrative, memory, and imagination coexist and continually transform one another.
